A woman in another state claims that she suffered discrimination as well as retaliation on the job. She filed a workplace discrimination lawsuit against her former supervisor and employer. Anyone in Texas who experiences poor treatment on the job due to gender, for instance, may have the right to take legal action through the civil court system.
The woman alleges that her previous employer and supervisor discriminated against her on the basis of her gender and her age. They are also accused of intentionally inflicting emotional distress on her. Furthermore, they are said to have retaliated against the plaintiff and to have created a hostile work environment for her.
The plaintiff asserts that the defendants essentially carried out a campaign designed to push her out of her job role. According to the woman's lawsuit, she was forced out of her role unfairly and ended up suffering medical complications due to the defendants' conduct against her. She is seeking a jury trial as well as a judgment totaling more than $35,000.
An employer is prohibited from discriminating against an employee on the basis of certain protected factors, one of which is gender. If an employer in Texas allows workplace discrimination to take place and does not take steps to address or mitigate it, the employer may be held liable in civil court. Any person who has been discriminated against may be entitled to file a lawsuit. A successfully navigated case might lead to a fired employee being reinstated in his or her job, and/or monetary relief for any damages incurred.
