When businesses in Texas allow sexual harassment to take place in their work environments, the illegality of the allowance creates grounds for litigation. In another state, one broadcast veteran recently claimed she was terminated as retaliation for resisting the company CEO's sexual advances. She has filed a sexual harassment claim in this case.
According to the lawsuit filed by Gretchen Carlson, the broadcaster's contract with Fox News expired, and even though she had worked there more than a decade, she was unjustly fired. The broadcaster claimed that the male CEO who was sexually harassing her told her that the two of them should have become sexually involved a while ago. She claimed she rebuffed his sexual demands and was fired nine months later.
Carlson worked at the station CBS before joining Fox News back in 2005. She was a co-host on a morning show before eventually being fired in 2013. While on the show, she claimed to have been sexually harassed by one of her co-hosts, although he has not been named in the recent lawsuit.
Sexual harassment includes making unwanted sexual advances or requiring an employee to perform sexual favors in exchange for a job promotion other job-related benefits. When a person in Texas faces workplace sexual harassment, which is illegal, he or she has the right to file a claim against the company under certain circumstances. Depending on the circumstances surrounding a person's case, the sexual harassment victim may receive remedies, including back pay and other monetary damages, along with related legal relief.
