Man files race discrimination suit against Exxon Mobil

When people in Texas are racially discriminated against in the workplace, they naturally may feel violated and humiliated. However, they have the right to take legal actions against their employers. One black man in another state recently sued his employer, alleging race discrimination.

The man filed his lawsuit against Exxon Mobil Corporation, alleging that the Louisiana Employment Discrimination Law was violated. The man claimed he was not given a transfer, as well as being training opportunities at the company because of his race. Finally, he claims that he was fired as a result of his alleged conduct.

The man said the ordeal caused him to suffer lost fringe benefits and wages. He also claims to have suffered emotional and mental distress, along with the loss of the enjoyment of life. He further asserted that his employer treated him in a disparate manner, denied his requests to get promotions and advance in the company, and subjected him to actions that were discriminatory.

As part of his lawsuit, the man is seeking a trial by jury, as well as judgment for reasonable amounts of money, legal interest and legal costs. If a person in the state of Texas experiences race discrimination at work, it is within his or her rights to explore all of his or her legal options, including filing a workplace discrimination lawsuit against the employer. Remedies from a suit that is fought successfully could include compensation for emotional harm or even the reinstatement of a job, depending on the circumstances surrounding the discrimination case.
